Making It Happen, Day by Day

Living my Best Life Ever, Personally & Professionally

Tim Braun

“My whole life, nothing has given me more joy then to create something of value and purpose for myself and others. Hence my moniker...”

Who’s Tim Braun?

Let’s start at the beginning - my Mom is a singer, piano player, Norwegian folk art painter, and craft store owner. My grandfather, on my mother’s side, was a woodworker and entrepreneur – I grew up around crafting. My grandfather, myself, and a family friend named Boo would make wooden horses, boxes, cabinets, and other wooden items for my mom to paint and teach painting classes. This early exposure to woodworking instilled in me the drive to make things. While my Mom had the crafting gene, my Dad was German. Nature vs. Nurture? I believe I had both – the craftiness from my Mom and the German precision and an innate drive to figure things out and do it right!

In high school, I didn’t do great in math but I excelled in drafting, electronics, and graphic arts. The skills classes kept my grade point up and that didn’t change in college where I majored in graphic arts achieving a perfect 4.0 in my major classes and overall, graduated with honors.

After college, I moved into a house with friends and proceeded to fill the garage with tools. I was becoming a real woodworker now! That has persisted all of my life, expanding into leather work, photography, making custom acoustic and electric guitars, guitar amplifiers, and speaker cabinets.

MY SKILL SETS

As my passions grew throughout my life, so has my skills and knowledge.

From a young age, working with my Grandfather, woodworking became my first passion. As time progressed, I started to build furniture, which led me to working with metal. A trip to Lake Powell in Arizona and Utah introduced me to photography. A family visit, seeing a Coach Leather piece that my brother had got me curious enough to try my hand at leather work. My best friend from college played guitar. I tried to learn how to play guitar but found it easier to build one - an acoustic guitar from scratch. The Covid stay-at-home period led me to building two guitar amplifiers and guitar effects pedals. “I can’t not make stuff” - unknown

Artistic Engineering

Not just another ring box.

I had a friend that was proposing. Not at a restaurant or on a mountain top – on a stage, after a performance by his girlfriend. He wanted the ring box small and thin enough to fit in his pocket. His plan was to jump up on stage, kneel down and pull the box out, opening it with one hand… “and have the ring pop up, if possible.”

Mission Impossible? Mission accomplished!
